Vancouver engineers its own urban dream – latimes.com

Vancouver’s will be on global display during the upcoming Winter Olympics.  This LA – Times article gives a great summary of their efforts, both pro and con.

In the article a  Vancouver city planner boasts about their vibrant downtown claiming, “We’re the only North American downtown to have opened a new elementary school… it’s not because we’re all utopians here. It’s a willingness to have vision, and then back it up with regulation and willpower.”

Not so!  Raleigh too has vision and willpower.  We opened a new downtown middle school.  So for those who claim Raleigh has no future, take heart.
