Picking up sticks on the Polish Border

NCSU students at the Prague Institute spent the weekend at Zdonov Farm near the Polish border. Experimenting with flexibility, balance, & tension they built soaring wood structures without fasteners of any type.   The process was extremely frustrating at first, but as conventional notions of strength and stability eroded, delicately balanced sculptures began to grow off the barn floor.  The structures that emerged were strikingly beautiful in their simplicity and expression of movement.  The pictures don’t do justice.
