Crowdsourcing Tourist Traffic

We are all at least remotely familiar with ArcGIS and understand it is the go-to product for large scale spatial data analysis.  But it is a new era and the emergence of crowdsourcing through digital devices presents a growing body of low cost and efficient tools available for spatial analysis.   Here is another example by Eric Fischer.  He mined geotag and timestamp data from photographs on Flickr to estimate tourist traffic in over 100 cities.  Landscapes Architects will do well to go beyond reliance on government & industry datasets and harness those produced directly by the people.
