Seminar offers guidance for greener gardening

Have you wanted to install rain gardens or create raised vegetable beds in your yard but just didn’t know where to begin? A seminar hosted by the City of Durham and the Durham County government will help you learn to do just that.

Sustainable Landscapes is a workshop that focuses on sustainable garden management techniques, including managing soil for best results, smart watering techniques, and how to landscape to prevent water runoff and pollution.

The seminar will be held on Monday, Jan. 24, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Durham County Cooperative Extension Service at 721 Foster St. The registration fee is $25, which includes lunch. The deadline for registration is Tuesday, Jan. 18.

For more information or to register, contact Pana Jones at (919) 560-0525 or e-mail prjones@co.durham.nc.us.
